On July 3rd, 2020, Relai was launched with a clear mission: to become Europe’s easiest bitcoin investing app. Since then, the team has grown from just two people with a vision to 18 full-time employees, turning the dream into reality. Now, we are working hard on making Relai even better.
Relai launched amid Covid in July 2020. Co-founders Julian Liniger and Adem Bilican convinced an investor and launched a first version that wasn’t very good but did what it was supposed to do: make buying bitcoin simple.
2 Years Of Growth
People liked the Relai app, which soon attracted a small but passionate community. And then, the project took off. Since then, around 60 million CHF have been traded via Relai, 250k orders have been executed, more than 30k people are actively using the app, and we have an app rating of 4.4.
The best part? Around 50% of our orders are recurring buys, meaning our users are stacking sats and embracing bitcoin as a long-term investment.
And We’re Just Getting Started
In 2021, our trading volume grew by 1200%. At the end of June 2022, we’ve reached a higher volume than 2020 and 2021 combined! We have grown into a team of 18 full-time Relaiers passionate about their vision: bringing bitcoin into everyone’s pocket. The team is fully remote and spread across four continents.
In early July 2022, right in time for Relai’s second Birthday, the whole Relai team got together for a second time. We met up in sunny (and windy) Portugal to celebrate and have fun and prepare for the second half of 2022 and agreed on ambitious plans to improve the Relai app.
Onwards: Project Papillon
It’s been a wild ride so far, and we are not planning to stop. The current bear market is perfect for building, and we’re doing it with Project Papillon. By October, the Relai app will have a better, even easier UX and, most importantly, feature more (and faster) payment options.
