RELAI RISK DISCLOSURE

This document is part of Relai’s Terms & Conditions and outlines the risks involved with buying and selling Bitcoin using the Mobile App and the Web App. 

The terms in uppercase in this document correspond to the definitions provided in the Terms. Please read this carefully as it explains key risks you agree to when using our services.

1. BITCOIN PRICE FLUCTUATIONS

Bitcoin’s market price can change rapidly. As a result, you may experience significant losses. Consider whether buying, selling, and owning Bitcoin suits your risk tolerance and financial situation.

For Relai EU, the price you see at the moment of confirming a purchase is the final price.

For Relai AG, due to a different business model, the price you see at the moment of confirming a purchase may differ from the final price due to rapid changes in the market, conditions in the Bitcoin network, or service availability may also impact pricing and availability.

2. SECURITY AND OPERATIONAL RISK

You bear full responsibility for account security, including implementing robust authentication measures such as strong, unique passwords and two-factor authentication. Security breaches resulting from inadequate protective measures may lead to irreversible loss of funds with no possibility of recovery or compensation. 

Additionally, Bitcoin transactions are irreversible by design. Any errors in transaction details, including recipient addresses or amounts, cannot be corrected and may result in permanent loss of funds.

Please note that for security and usability reasons, modern Bitcoin wallets use a “Seed Phrase”, a series of 12 or 24 human-readable words, as the primary backup of your wallet. This Seed Phrase generates and controls all private keys within your wallet. While each Bitcoin address is secured by a unique private key, users typically do not interact directly with these keys. Instead, the wallet software manages them securely in the background. Your Seed Phrase is the master key to your entire wallet. Anyone with access to it can control your funds. For this reason, your Seed Phrase must be stored securely and never shared.

3. SERVICE MODEL LIMITATION

Relai operates as a non-custodial service and does not hold, store, or have access to your Bitcoin. You maintain exclusive control and responsibility for fund security, private key management, and wallet access. 

Loss of private keys will result in permanent, irrecoverable loss of funds, with no possibility of assistance or recovery.

4. REGULATORY AND FISCAL RISKS

Bitcoin regulation remains evolving and uncertain across jurisdictions. Future regulatory changes may adversely affect Bitcoin’s legality, trading, or value. 

Tax treatment of Bitcoin transactions varies significantly by jurisdiction and may change without notice. You are solely responsible for determining, understanding, and complying with all applicable tax obligations, including reporting requirements and payment of any taxes due on Bitcoin transactions.
